Oscar Erixson


Research interests: Public economics, intergenerational transfers, health economics, and applied behavioral economics.


Some of the questions Oscar Erixson tries to answer with his research:

  • How does inherited wealth affect our decisions regarding labor supply, consumption, savings, and health?
  • How do we plan our estates before we pass away and which motives govern us in the distribution of financial property within the family?
  • What are the consequences of bequests for the distribution of wealth in society?

Oscar Erixson



Oscar Erixson received his Ph.D. in economics from Uppsala University in 2013. His dissertation, entitled ”Economic Decisions and Social Norms in Life and Death Situations”, studies how we behave towards other people when the life is at stake, how we decide about the distribution of our financial property when we die, and how increased wealth affects our economic behavior and health. He is affliliated with IFN and holds, starting January 2015, a position as researcher at the Department of Economics, Uppsala University.

Research on entrepreneurship




The Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is the foremost global award for research on entrepreneurship.This Prize is awarded annually with a prize sum of EUR 100,000.

IFN in cooperation with Entreprenörskapsforum and Vinnova are the principals of the award, in cooperation with the donor, Stockholms Köpmansklubb.

Professor Philippe Aghion, Collège de France, is the winner of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research 2016. He will receive the award at a ceremony on May 10, 2016, in Stockholm.
