According to theoretical models, the position of marginal groups in the labor market may be weakened by strict employment protection legislation. Empirical findings also suggest that marginal groups, especially the young, tend to be disadvantaged by strict employment protection legislation. However, the knowledge of how the labor market position of immigrants is affected by employment protection legislation is limited, even though this question is highly relevant from a policy perspective.
The purpose of the project is to examine how immigrants' possibilities for employment and self-employment are affected by employment protection legislation.
