The Importance of ICT and R&D for Swedish Business Sector Growth

The growth in the Swedish business sector was among the highest in the OECD between 1995 and 2010. The purpose of this project is to study the extent to which the rapid growth rate can be explained by investment in information and communications technology (ICT) and by investment in research and development (R&D).

Project manager: Harald Edquist and Magnus Henrekson

For the first time and thanks to the availability of new data from Statistics Sweden, it will be possible to construct capital stocks for ICT and R&D at the industry level. Moreover, it will be possible to decompose the ICT capital stock into hardware and software.

International cooperation

Visiting researchers

Collaborating with others is essential for IFN as a research institute. Our researchers co-author articles with colleagues from other institutes, and many also teach at various universities and colleges.

As part of our extensive program of guest researchers, leading international researchers visit the institute. The visitors present and pursue their research as well as interact and cooperate with researchers at IFN.
