Lars Persson är docent i nationalekonomi och vice VD på Institutet för Näringslivsforskning. Hans forskning är inriktade på industriell ekonomi, konkurrenspolitik, internationell investeringar, forskning & utveckling och entreprenörskap. För närvarande arbetar han med frågor om (i) internationella fusioner och strukturomvandling, (i) interaktionen mellan entreprenörer, riskkapitalister och etablerade företag i innovationsprocessen, och (iii) företagsbeskattning och företagsförvärv.
Lars Persson är affilierad med Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London) och Forum för småföretagsförskning (FSF). Han har varit ekonomisk expert i Stockholms Tingsrätt och har varit gästprofessor vid European University Institute och Purdue University.
