Olle Hammar

Ph.D.

Olle Hammar is a postdoctoral researcher at IFN. In 2021, he defended his Ph.D. thesis, The Mystery of Inequality: Essays on Culture, Development, and Distributions, at the Department of Economics, Uppsala University. He has also been a visiting scholar at Columbia University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Some of the questions Olle Hammar tries to answer in his research:

How has global earnings inequality developed since the 1970s?
What are the effects of culture on individual preferences for income redistribution?
In which social and institutional environments does microfinance work best?
How has the total income and wealth distribution in Sweden changed over the past 50 years?
