The Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN) is looking for research assistants


IFN is a private and independent research institute that conducts research on economic and social issues relevant to the business sector. The main part of our research is carried out within five research programs: (i) Economics of Entrepreneurship, (ii) Globalization and Corporate Restructuring, (iii) The Economics of the Service Sector, (iv) The Economics of Electricity Markets and (v) The Economics of Institutions and Culture.

Currently, we are 32 PhDs in Economics, of which six are Professors and 12 Associate Professors. We also have three research assistants and four PhD students affiliated to the institute. See for further information.

We are now looking for two – three research assistants starting in August 2018 or by agreement. As a research assistant you will work closely with the institute’s researchers, assisting them in their research projects. The work ranges from literature surveys, data collection and processing to advanced econometrics using large registry based datasets.

The applicant should have completed a Master’s degree in Economics or be in the second year of the Master’s program with excellent grades, preferably with a focus on quantitative analysis. Coding experience, in particular in Stata, is valuable. You should be interested in research and in policy debate of relevance for the business sector, and have the ambition to attain a PhD in Economics in the future. You need to have good knowledge of both Swedish and English.

Collaborating with others is essential for IFN as a research institute. Our researchers co-author articles with colleagues from other institutes, and many also teach at various universities and colleges.

As part of our extensive program of guest researchers, leading international researchers visit the institute. The visitors present and pursue their research as well as interact and cooperate with researchers at IFN.

Global Award

Research on entrepreneurship




The Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is the foremost global award for research on entrepreneurship.This Prize is awarded annually with a prize sum of EUR 100,000.

IFN in cooperation with Entreprenörskapsforum and Vinnova are the principals of the award, in cooperation with the donor, Stockholms Köpmansklubb.

Professor Olav Sorenson, Yale, is the winner of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research 2018. He will receive the award at a ceremony on May 14, 2018, in Stockholm.
