Starting in 2009 IFN along with Entreprenörskapsforum and 2009-2012 with Tillväxtverket are the principals of the Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research. At the same point in time the prize sum was raised to EUR 100 000, and the winner also receives a replica of Carl Milles sculpture "Hand of God". Today Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research is widely recognized as the world's top research prize in the field of entrepreneurship and small business.
The prize has been awarded annually since 1996. Since 2009, in its present-day name. At time when the prize sum was doubled, the nomination, evaluation and selection process became more structured and transparent.
IFN is responsible for preparing and appoint scientific evaluations of the main candidates proposed by the Award Committee. IFN maintains and updates the Global Award website (www.e-award.org) and is jointly with Entrepreneurship Forum making sure that an essay on the winner's research contributions as well as the winner's prize lecture is published in the Small Business Economics, a leading specialty journal in the field of entrepreneurship research. The Entreprenörskapsforum is responsible for the marketing and communication activities related to the award.
