Some questions that Gissur Erlingsson tries to answer in his research:

  • Corruption in mature welfare-states – how can it be explained and what is its consequences?
  • What is the appropriate way to design a country’s local government level (how many and how small, and with what degree of local self-government?)
  • Why do Swedes distrust their local institutions more than their state-level institutions?
