The IFN taxation research project aims to increase our knowledge about the role of taxes in the Swedish economy. Taxes are used to finance public investments in infrastructure and welfare services as well as redistribute across households. Taxes also influences people and firms in their economic decision-making, which means that taxes have an effect on the long-term performance of the economy as a whole. All of this points to the need to study taxes in Sweden.
Specifically, the project will address a number of important questions. For example, the structure and impact of capital taxes, taxation of foundations, historical trends in taxation and their effect on entrepreneurship.
