The call is published on Euractiv and urges EU leaders to impose further sanctions to restrain Russia's actions in Ukraine without resorting to military means. To ban euro transactions and freeze the foreign assets of all Russian banks, not only the ones already sanctioned, is one possibility. Another is to ban SWIFT transactions to all Russian banks. The EU should also block the import of energy resources, argue the economists.
