IFN Stockholm Conference, June 8–9, 2023: Taxation and Inequality

Taxes play a central role in all modern, industrialized societies. They finance public welfare and infrastructure, and they redistribute between groups in the population. Taxes also influence how firms and individuals behave when making decisions about, for example, investments, labor supply, or educational choices.

The IFN research program "Taxes and Society" aims to foster knowledge about the importance of taxation for the economy. The program contains several projects that cover themes from business taxation, labor supply elasticities with respect to labor taxes, the balance between labor and capital taxation, and the role of different taxes and transfers for income and wealth inequality.

The conference in Vaxholm is an international two-day meeting in a workshop format. It brings together researchers in the field with an overarching objective to present and discuss the latest research. Participation at the conference is by invitation only.

We are grateful for financial support from the Jan Wallanders och Tom Hedelius stiftelse samt Tore Browaldhs stiftelse, Nordic Capital and the Swedish Research Council.

The organizer of the conference is Daniel Waldenström, Professor and Program Director of the research program "Taxes and Society".
