24 June 2020

The board of IFN has appointed Fredrik Sjöholm, professor of International Economics at Lund University as the new CEO of IFN. He replaces Magnus Henrekson who after 15 successful years has asked to leave his position.

– I am very pleased to be able to present Fredrik Sjöholm as the new CEO, says IFN’s Chairman of the Board, Staffan Bohman. He has solid academic credentials and has shown good leadership both during his time as head of the Department of Economics at Lund University, where he successfully undertook change work and in his previous role as program manager for the research program Globalization and Corporate Restructuring at IFN. He is very familiar with IFN’s operations and will be able to continue Magnus Henrekson’s excellent work, says Staffan Bohman.

– It is with pride and humility that I take on the CEO assignment, says Fredrik Sjöholm. IFN is a private research institute that holds a unique position in Swedish Economics research with its focus on research topics that are of interest to business and industry. In addition, there is a tradition a willingness among IFN researchers to actively contribute with Economics perspectives in the debate, says Fredrik Sjöholm.

Fredrik Sjöholm specializes in international trade, multinational companies, and Asia’s economies. He is currently working as a professor of International Economics at Lund University and as an affiliated researcher at IFN. He has previously been employed at Örebro University, Stockholm School of Economics, and Singapore National University.

Fredrik Sjöholm assumes his position as CEO on November 1, 2020. Magnus Henrekson will continue to be active as a researcher at IFN.
