The 60s and the 70s showed a decline in various indicators of labor mobility in Sweden. Concerns were about the adverse allocation effects that a less mobile force might imply.

This book brings together a number of econometrics studies an labor mobility in Sweden. By using primarily micro data, a detailed quantitative picture of mobility behavior is provided. The issues addressed are related to (i) the determinants of job search and quit behavior, (ii) the determinants of family migration decisions, (iii) the relationships between mobility and subsequent earnings, and (iv) the dynamics of labor turnover in the context of overall labor market behavior.
