Educational Reforms and the Development of Social Mobility in Sweden during the 20th Century

It is well-known that people's family background plays a role for socioeconomic outcomes for adults. The importance of family background for the socioeconomic outcomes of individuals has decreased substantially in Sweden during the 20th century. In this time period, there were several educational reforms, with different content and at different levels of the Swedish school system. The purpose of this project is to investigate the extent to which these educational reforms contributed to the reduced importance of family background for socioeconomic outcomes.
