Collaborative Innovation Blocs

The research project highlights the fact that innovation processes are inherently collaborative, with key collaborations taking place within systems of innovations that we label collaborative innovation blocs. The entrepreneur may be the instigator of an innovative project but is, to succeed, dependent on several complementary economic skills that can be found in the innovation bloc. Successful innovation comes about when the people possessing the relevant skills are brought together: In addition to the entrepreneur, these are early- and late-stage financiers, key personnel, and customers. If innovations are to have a high probability of success, each of these skills must be present in the economy to a sufficient degree.
