Lars Calmfors, IFN and Stockholm University, is interviewed by Ouest France on Sweden's decision to not join the European Monetary Union:

"Nous avions réussi à réduire le déficit public et le chômage,se souvient Lars Calmfors, professeur d’économie à l’université de Stockholm. Les conditions étant plus favorables, l’opinion publique avait le sentiment que l’on n’avait plus besoin de l’union monétaire."

Translation: We had succeeded in reducing the public deficit and unemployment recalls Lars Calmfors, Professor of Economics at Stockholm University. As conditions were more favorable, public opinion felt that there was no longer a need for a monetary union.
