EPRG was founded in 2005 and is based at The Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. The core research discipline is economics, though the “research team have broad expertise in economics, technology policy and political science,” states EPRG, adding that “through our publications and via our Energy Policy Forum (EPF), the group offers rigorous independent research output that informs public and private sector decision making in the electricity and energy industry.”

Thomas Tangerås, Associate Professor and Director of IFN’s research program Economics of Electricity Markets has been appointed Associated Researcher at The Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG), University of Cambridge. EPRG is considered one of the world's leading research institutions in the field of energy markets. Dr. Tangerås is the second IFN researcher to become affiliated to EPRG. Pär Holmberg was the first.
