Children of Workers Impacted by Automation Are More Likely To Experience Lower Income Mobility

A new empirical study conducted by Fredrik Heyman and Martin Olsson, both researchers at IFN, examines whether advancements in automation and robotics have affected intergenerational income mobility. 

The degree to which children are affected by parents’ labor market outcomes influences how children can shape their future. Fredrik Heyman and Martin Olsson, both researchers at IFN, conducted a new empirical study concerning this topic and find that parents’ exposure to new technologies is associated with lower income mobility.
