The study examines how an expansion of the highway network in Croatia contributed to increased tourism and reduced voter support for the country’s largest national conservative party in coastal municipalities. The rise in tourism also led to population and employment growth, demographic changes, and positive spillover effects within the manufacturing industry, which constitute possible explanations for the changes in voting behavior.
