Maternity leave is wreacking womens hopes of promotion

The report, from the Research Institute of Industrial Economics in Stockholm, Sweden, compared the level of paid maternity leave in countries with the number of women holding top managerial positions. Magnus Henrekson, the head of the research institute and one of the authors of the study, said high levels of maternity leave 'derailed' women from their objectives, adding: 'The more generous you are, the fewer women you are likely to see at the very top.'
