Denna uppsats undersöker om populistiska partiers framväxt i Europa kan kopplas till ökade inkomstskillnader på nationell nivå. Något sådant samband kan inte konstateras. Däremot finner vi ett positivt samband mellan hög arbetslöshet och vänsterpopulistiska partiers valframgångar, samt ett samband mellan stark anställningstrygghet och högerpopulism.
